Italy, From Behind the Wheel

Over the years I’ve been challenged to curate some amazing experiences for Papillon guests, and honestly, it’s one of my favourite parts of the job. I love the creativity, the imagination and the collaborative nature of bringing your travel dreams to life.

One of my favourites to date involved an incredible drive through Italy. I arranged for a Ferrari to be delivered to the doors of an iconic Lake Como hotel, greeting our guests as they headed south, on the road to Tuscany. Along the way we arranged a stop at the legendary Ferrari circuit so they could take the car onto the track itself - a pretty epic moment for any supercar enthusiast. A dedicated support car travelled in convoy throughout the journey, subtly on hand should anything be needed, leaving them free to simply enjoy the road ahead.

Italy is made for this kind of experience. The winding roads, cinematic scenery and effortless glamour have inspired film writers and directors for decades. It’s hard to forget Audrey Hepburn weaving through Rome on the back of a Vespa in Roman Holiday, watching the opening scene of The Italian Job as a Lamborghini Miura navigates switchbacks in the Dolomites, or being mesmerised by Daniel Craig as he rips an Aston Martin through the streets of Matera in James Bond’s, No Time to Die.

For anyone seeking something more a little more nostalgic, I’ve also sourced beautifully restored vintage cars for leisurely drives through the Tuscan countryside or along Puglia’s sunny coastal roads. Experiences can be as simple as a few hours behind the wheel or developed into full multi-day convoy tours across Italy - complete with bespoke hotels and unforgettable stops along the way.

This is merely one example of the kinds of experiences I can help bring it to life. While I will often suggest ideas you may not have thought of, it’s always more exciting to hear about the moments you’ve been imagining or daydreaming about for months, or even years on end. So if you’ve been thinking of something special or simply want to know what’s even possible, I’d be delighted to hear from you…
