June
The month to embrace longer days…
France
June in France is magic.
Provence pops with fragrant lavender fields, while Paris comes alive with curb-side dining on warm evenings. For a laid-back coastal escape, Hossegor and Biarritz offer surf, sand, and sun, while the glitzy coastline from Marseille to Nice is perfect for a scenic road trip, combining sparkling waters, charming towns, and unforgettable vistas.
All to enjoy without the crazy crowds of July & August.
Barbados
Arguably one of the most popular Caribbean islands with Papillon guests, we love Barbados in June. It might technically be classed as low or shoulder season but don’t let that put you off - it remains sun-drenched and inviting.
Golden beaches, turquoise waters, and gentle breezes set the scene, while the island’s lively energy spills into bustling markets, vibrant festivals, and a world-class culinary scene. The dining options really do make this island what it is. From low-key roadside fish cutters at The Caboose, followed by rum punches at John Moore Bar, to refined dining at The Cliff - there are options for all tastes. Just don’t miss lunch at our favourite spot, La Cabane.
Namibia
Namibia is a country that can be explored year-round, but the arrival of the dry season and cooler temperatures make June particularly inviting. It’s a country made for road trips and while private guiding is absolutely possible, self-drive itineraries are the norm here.
After a night finding your feet in Windhoek, make for the vast and desert landscapes of Sossusvlei, where the iconic red sand dunes make for a dramatic backdrop against barren acacia trees. Stop in Walvis Bay for impressive seal colonies and dolphin encounters, before making your way along the Skeleton Coast to discover long-lost shipwrecks. In Damaraland you’ll find desert adapted elephants and black rhino, while the salt pans of Etosha National Park lend way to even bigger herds - plus chances to spy lions and cheetahs on the prowl.
Sweden
While you may think of Sweden as a winter destination, June and the start of summer is increasingly popular - and for good reason.
As Stockholm buzzes with early summer energy, a stay Ett Hem makes you feel right at home. Midsummer (midsommar) festival marks the longest day of the year and countryside villages come alive with dancing, maypoles, and floral crowns. Boats begin to sail to the archipelagos, where the island of Gotland is the place to be seen and a few nights at Sibbjäns is high on our wishlist.
All in all, June is the perfect month to experience Sweden’s vibrant city culture and stunning natural landscapes, all under the midnight sun.
Malaysia
If you’re looking to venture beyond the islands of Langkawi and Penang, June is a great time to explore the breadth of Malaysia.
Kuala Lumpur buzzes as a melting pot of culture and modern city life, while eastern coast beaches offer pristine sands and crystal-clear waters, perfect for snorkelling vibrant coral reefs.
Malaysian Borneo is also at its best for orangutang sightings, just before the peak of the summer holidays, making it a month full of diverse adventures and experiences. Top tip: book early.
