September

The month to soak up the landscape...

Madagascar

The dry season in Madagascar brings sunny, comfortable days, making September ideal for exploring baobab-studded plains, spiny forests, and hidden waterfalls.

Wildlife enthusiasts can spot lemurs, chameleons, and rare birds, while the pristine beaches of Nosy Be and Sainte Marie offer calm waters and the chance to witness migrating humpback whales.

For something truly special, the extra hop to experience stays at Time + Tide Tsara Komba or Voaara Madagascar will be forever etched in your mind.

Canada

As summer begins to wind down, landscapes across British Columbia, Quebec, and Ontario become ablaze with red, gold, and amber foliage - the perfect backdrop for scenic drives and hiking adventures.

Wildlife spotting is excellent, with bears and moose more visible, while cities like Montreal and Vancouver buzz with culture, festivals, and alfresco dining.

Itineraries here are all about the route and steering you towards paths less trodden, but hideaways such as Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge and the exclusive Fawn Bluff, mean rustic touches of luxury are also on the agenda.

UK & Ireland

Being our homeland, we can really help bring a trip to the UK and Ireland to life. Mild, crisp days and quieter towns make September the perfect month to explore.

Autumn colours emerge across the Scottish Highlands, ideal for a road trip along the North Coast 500 or soaking up the landscape from a hidden cabin. We love what WildLand has to offer - from a remote bothy to exclusive castle, they’ve got you covered.

Fewer crowds make the Cotswolds villages perfect for wandering or enjoying cozy pub life, while London, Edinburgh, and Dublin buzz with culture, music, theatre, and a vibrant food scene.

Zambia

Dry conditions make September safaris in South Luangwa or Lower Zambezi perfect for spotting elephants, lions, and leopards, while cooler temperatures make walking safaris and river cruises even more enjoyable. Water levels may be dropping, but Victoria Falls remains a breathtaking sight.

For travellers seeking privacy, Zambia’s lesser-known parks offer intimate wildlife encounters and a genuine sense of wilderness. We’re craving a Zambezi experience with Time + Tide - their exceptional guides know the country inside out and their intimate lodges look heavenly.

USA

After the summer rush, the USA in September still offers great weather and fewer crowds. Coastal cities like San Francisco and New York are perfect for sightseeing, while the deserts of the Southwest and national parks such as Yellowstone and Yosemite showcase spectacular landscapes.

We love plotting road trips through the states, in our view it’s the best way to maximise your experience. Our favourite routes include hugging the stunning coastline on Highway 1 from LA to San Francisco, where a stop at Post Ranch Inn is always a hit. Or, start with a couple of nights of frivolity in the city that never sleeps before fully immersing yourself in nature driving through the Grand Canyon in Arizona on on Utah, where a few nights under desert skies at Amangiri will leave you speechless.
